Export Inspection Templates

Generate a structured Excel workbook containing the full details, questions, and response sets of all your inspection templates.

While Procore allows PDF exports of inspection templates, these are often difficult to read or use for data analysis. The Export Inspection Templates tool provides a structured, multi-tab Excel file that serves as a comprehensive “knowledge base” of your Quality and HSE standards.

1 - Prerequisites

To access this feature, you must have the following permissions in Procore:

  • Project Level: Admin permissions on the Inspections tool for the project.
  • Company Level: Admin permissions on the Company Inspections tool.

2 - Level of Export

The tool adapts to your needs:

  • Project Export: Extracts all templates currently available on a specific project (including those inherited from the company level).
  • Company Export: Extracts the master list of templates managed at the Company level. This is ideal for auditing your global standards across the entire organization.

3 - Understanding the Excel Workbook

The generated file is organized to provide maximum clarity:

  • Summary Tab: An initial page listing all exported inspection templates with their general metadata.
  • Individual Tabs: Each inspection template is assigned its own numbered tab.
  • Detailed Content: For every template, the file lists every Section, Item (Question), Reference, and Response Set, Conditional logic, Observation & Photo requirement.
  • Standardized Format: The layout is identical across all tabs, making it easy to compare different templates.
  • Direct Links: Each tab includes a direct URL to the template in Procore, allowing you to quickly jump to the platform for updates.

4 - Technical Limits & Usage

  • Read-Only Format: This file is designed for export and auditing purposes only. It cannot be used to re-import or update templates back into Procore.
  • Scale: The tool has been successfully tested with exports containing over 500 inspection templates. Performance may vary beyond this volume.

[TIP]: Use this export on a regular basis to archive your knowledge basis, and conduct “Quality Audits” of your templates, ensuring that the wording of questions and response sets (Pass/Fail/NA) is consistent across your entire project or company.
